Newsletters – 2023 Issue 2

The latest issue of Meditation News, the UK Community Newsletter is now available to download and read here.  Subscribers should have received their printed copy.  The main articles are available as separate news items on the website through the links below or //wccm.uk/category/newsletters/. The WCCM International newsletter is also available on our website and will be included in the autumn mailing.

On the cover of Meditation News our National Coordinator, Julie Roberts, has looked at some of the recent changes to WCCM in the UK  and how these opportunites take us forward.  One imminent change is Margaret Comerford’s retirement as UK Newsletter Editor and our search for a replacement. Another is a new look to our bookmark and meditation leaflet and the introduction of a postcard that an be used to promote meditation in your area – details with how to order these are here.

Through Meditatio we are working closely with the international community and there are several articles about Meditatio’s outreach work in the UK introduced by Diana Ohlson, the Meditatio UK Country Coordinator and looking at work in three areas:

  • Meditation in Prisons by Mary Devane, International and UK Special Interest Coordinator for Prisons.
  • Meditation in Care Settings by Beaté Steller an experienced leader of  Christian meditation groups in aged care homes and author of Meditation for Older People.
  • Ecological Matters by Sarah Feeney, Special Interest Coordinator for the Environment.

In Community News, Pauline Steenberger our WCCM Bodywork Contact explains how an accident that prevented running led to her combining a rural parish ministry, with silence, meditation and yoga, to take forward the embodiment practice in our community.  Julia Williamson, Online Meditation Coordinator considers changes in how we meet to meditate in Meditation – online, physical or both.

There are listings of UK events, some of the hybrid and online series from Bonnevaux and the Meditatio Centre including details of the September John Main Seminar, online and at Bonnevaux. The contacts list has been updated (the latest version is always available on the website).

The next issue will be available in mid-September.  Please send articles to: uknewsletter@wccm.uk and events to: events@wccm.uk to reach us by 1 August.  There are editorial team changes coming, so please use these rather than personal email addresses.
