WCCM in the UK: Reaching Out
The Mission of the Community is ‘to communicate and nurture meditation passed on through the teaching of John Main in the Christian tradition and in the spirit of serving the unity of all’.Â
One aspect of this is the desire to share the fruits, and benefits, of meditation with the wider world and to direct the wisdom of meditation towards addressing the problems and crises of our time.
The fruits of meditation lead us to action and each Christian meditator will be sharing their gifts accordingly.
There are a number of special interest coordinators who provide support meditation and action in a range of environments, including:
- Meditation and the Marginalised
- Meditation with Children
- Mental Health
- Meditation in Prisons
- Supporting Lone Meditators, and Clergy and the Benedictine Oblates of WCCM
Meditatio
Meditatio is the centrally organised outreach of the community. It shares the fruits of meditation with the wider world and directs the wisdom of meditation towards the problems and crises of our time. It engages in dialogue with both the secular and scientific mind and different faiths from the common ground opened by the universal wisdom of meditation. Its outreach programmes engage the areas of education, business, health, interfaith, science and social justice.
The work of Meditatio is coordinated in London both at Meditatio House, a residential community of interns and oblates and from The Meditatio Centre which offers a variety of events.’
