The latest issues of Meditation News, the UK Community Newsletter and the WCCM International Newsletter are now available to download and read here. Printed copies along with a copy of the conference flyer should be with subscribers in the middle of February.Â
On the cover of Meditation News there is a reminder that booking is now open for the 2023 National Conference 2 -4 June where Revd. Dr. Mark S. Burrows will lead us through How the Light Enters: Contemplative Wisdom for Flourishing in our Broken World. Places at the High Leigh Conference Centre are limited and early booking is advised. To whet your appetite Mark provides an introduction to the conference theme in his article Coming to Love Like a Refugee.
Under Community News, UK National Coordinator Julie Roberts has provided a summary of the November National Council 2022 meeting including the Community’s priorities for 2023, and on a lighter note some of the Favourite Quotes attendees contributed. Valerie Qunlivan describes how the Essex groups are taking meditation Beyond the local groups into rural churches and the Othona community; Franciscan John Evans describes his experience of Meditation at the Abbaye de Bonnevaux; and there are notices about retreats at the Kairos Centre in Holy Week and in Shrewsbury in July and The School Silent Retreat in the autumn.
We start a new series about the Community’s Special Interest Groups with a short article about Meditation with people with learning disabilities by coordinator Celia Gurowich. Roger Layet describes a series of talks by David Wood, Prefaces to Meditation, short recordings suitable for introducing periods of meditation, and Alex Holmes reflects on Solvitur Ambulando, solved by walking.
There are listings of UK events, some of the hybrid and online series from Bonnevaux and the Meditatio Centre including Fr Laurence’s introduction to this year’s WCCM theme Metanoia – let your minds be remade. The contacts list has been updated (the latest version is always available on the website).
